Meet Jessica Mercurio
Jess is the practice owner of Nurtura Counselling & Play therapy, she holds a Bachelor of Psychology, a Graduate Diploma in Relationship Counselling, and has completed Clinical Training in Child-Centred Play Therapy (CCPT). With a deep passion for supporting children and families, Jess is a Registered Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, a Counsellor and a Play therapist. Jess provides Play Therapy services for children aged 3 to 12, including individual sessions, sibling or duo therapy, and small group Play Therapy. These sessions are offered in clinic, through home visits, or via Teleplay (online play therapy). For adolescents aged 13 and above, Jess offers individual counselling in clinic or via telehealth. Jess specialises in working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Intellectual Disability, and Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Families often seek Jess' support for concerns around behaviour, emotional regulation, social skills development, and strengthening the parent–child relationship. With lived experience and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by parents of children with disabilities, Jess is known for being warm, positive, and genuinely compassionate. Jess works closely with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) families, offering culturally sensitive and inclusive care that respects each family’s unique values and experiences. Jess speaks English, Tagalog, Cebuano, and Korean, and is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for all families. NDIS participants are welcome, and discounted rates are available for private-paying families, as JM strongly believes in making therapy as accessible as possible. |
