Meet Junko Nishina

Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Junko is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 12 years of experience in social work and mental health in both Japan and Australia. Junko is passionate about helping individuals in discovering their own paths to empowerment and supporting their personal growth and transformation. 

Junko creates a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients, facilitating reflection on their strengths and challenges. She helps clients explore options and build self-confidence to make decisions that align with their values. Junko utilises a holistic, strength-based empowerment approach, integrating evidence-based therapeutic frameworks.

Junko's career as a counsellor began after graduating from Toyo Eiwa University in Japan in 2004, with a degree in Human Sciences, majoring in psychology. Junko worked as a counsellor in multiple city councils in Tokyo and surrounding suburbs, specialising in women’s mental health, relationship issues, and gendered violence.

In 2008, Junko moved to Adelaide and earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Flinders University in 2014. Junko is a dedicated professional, specialising in parenting support and education, mental health and relationship counselling.
 
Our counselling is suited for the following concerns: depression, anxiety, stress management, addiction, self-esteem issues, gender issues, parenting and attachment, difficulty adjusting to a new culture, loss and grief, life transitions, and couple/family relationships.
 
What is an AMHSW? 
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) in Australia are specialists recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and the Commonwealth Government. They focus on the overall well-being of clients, addressing both psychological and social aspects. 
 
AMHSWs use various proven methods in mental health care. If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you can get Medicare rebates for their services. Please contact Junko for further information.
